Product Overview
Clone AEGA-6 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes furin in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and ICC/IF. The predicted molecular weight is 86.7 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 87 kDa.
Furin is a calcium-dependent proprotein convertase of the subtilisin family that cycles through the trans-Golgi network. It cleaves precursor proteins after multibasic motifs, activating growth factors, receptors, hormones and matrix metalloproteinases, including TGF-β1. Many bacterial toxins and viral envelope proteins, such as the SARS-CoV-2 spike, are also processed by furin, so it is studied in both physiology and infection.

The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt describes furin as secreted and also located in the cell membrane and endosome membrane.
