Product Overview

Clone ADGB-12 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes galectin-1 (gene LGALS1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and immunoprecipitation. The predicted molecular weight is 14.7 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 15 kDa.

Galectin-1 (LGALS1) is a small β-galactoside-binding lectin that is secreted and found both inside and outside cells. By cross-linking glycoproteins on the cell surface, it regulates cell adhesion, proliferation and apoptosis, and it strongly dampens T-cell responses, including by inducing apoptosis of activated T cells. Galectin-1 is studied in immune regulation, angiogenesis and tumor immune evasion.

Validated Applications

Western blot 1:500–1:2000
Immunohistochemistry 1:50–1:200
Immunoprecipitation 1:50

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): K562 cells.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human galectin 1.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt describes galectin-1 as secreted and also located in the cytoplasm. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in placenta, maternal decidua and fetal membranes. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide as a preservative. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
A.Validated applications with suggested starting dilutions: Western blot 1:500–1:2000; Immunohistochemistry 1:50–1:200; Immunoprecipitation 1:50. Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory.
Q.Which species does this antibody react with?
A.Validated reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat. Other species are not listed by the supplier.
Q.Has this antibody been tested on bovine samples?
A.Reactivity with bovine samples has not been tested by the supplier. Aligning the immunogen sequence with the bovine ortholog (e.g., by BLAST) helps estimate the chance of cross-reactivity.
Q.What band size should be expected in Western blot?
A.Reported by the supplier: calculated molecular weight 14.7 kDa; observed band at about 15 kDa.
Q.What immunogen was used to raise this antibody?
A.Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human galectin 1.
Q.How should this antibody be stored?
A.Long term: −20 °C for up to 12 months. Frequent use: 4 °C for up to 1 month. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
