Product Overview
Clone 19L69 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes galectin-7 (gene LGALS7) in human and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and immunoprecipitation. The predicted molecular weight is 15.1 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 15 kDa.
Galectin-7 (LGALS7) is a prototype galectin expressed mainly in stratified epithelia such as the epidermis. It takes part in cell–cell and cell–matrix interactions and has pro-apoptotic activity inside cells, promoting JNK activation and the release of cytochrome c from mitochondria. Galectin-7 is induced by p53 and is studied in keratinocyte biology, wound healing and epithelial cancers.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): HACAT cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): rat skin tissue, human skin tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human galectin 7.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human and rat. UniProt describes galectin-7 as secreted and also located in the cytoplasm and nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Mainly expressed in stratified squamous epithelium. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
