Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects galanin-like peptide (gene GALP) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot and ELISA.
Galanin-like peptide (GALP) is a hypothalamic neuropeptide related to galanin that binds galanin receptors. It is made mainly in the arcuate nucleus and is linked to control of feeding, energy balance and reproductive hormone release, including GnRH secretion. An alternative isoform, alarin, has vascular and antimicrobial effects.

Immunogen
Recombinant human GALP fragment (Met1–Ser116), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the mouse and rat orthologs: 67% and 67.3%, respectively.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt describes galanin-like peptide as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Isoform 2 is found in ganglia of ganglioneuroma and ganglioneuroblastoma, as well as in differentiated tumor cells of neuroblastoma tissues.
