    Key elements and design rationale

    • Target: GARS — Glycine--tRNA ligase
    • Antibody format: Host: Rabbit; Clonality: Monoclonal; Clone: Clone: FEA-7; Isotype: Rabbit IgG
    • Species reactivity: Human,Mouse,Rat
    • Molecular weight guidance: Observed: 130 kDa; Calculated: 83166 MW

    Biological background

Protein function (datasheet): Catalyzes the attachment of glycine to tRNA (Gly). Is also able produce diadenosine tetraphosphate (Ap4A), a universal pleiotropic signaling molecule needed for cell regulation pathways, by condensation of 2 ATPs. .

Cellular localization (datasheet): Cytoplasm . Mitochondrion . Cell projection, axon . Associated with granules in cultured neuron cells. .

Tissue details (datasheet): Widely expressed, including brain and spinal cord. .

    Research relevance and current trends

    • Commonly studied in contexts related to DNA/RNA,Epigenetics and Nuclear Signaling,Translation.
    • Supports comparative expression analysis across conditions, genotypes, or treatments when paired with appropriate controls.
    • Useful for confirming target presence and subcellular distribution using orthogonal readouts (e.g., microscopy vs. immunoblotting).

    Common research applications

    • Western blot (WB): Compare relative target abundance and apparent size/isoforms across samples; interpret bands in light of expected MW and potential PTMs.
    • Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Assess tissue distribution and cell-type patterns; interpret staining with appropriate negative controls and antigen context.

    Notes for experimental interpretation

    • Consider isoforms, post-translational modifications, and processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or localization.
    • Use appropriate positive and negative controls (e.g., KO/KD, blocking peptide, or isotype controls) to support specificity interpretation.

As a monoclonal antibody, this reagent is expected to recognize a defined epitope, which can support consistency across lots when epitope accessibility is preserved.

My question regarding product M04618, anti-GARS Rabbit Monoclonal antibody. I was wondering if it would be possible to conjugate this antibody with biotin. I would need it to be without BSA or sodium azide. I am planning on using a buffer exchange of sodium azide with PBS only. Would there be problems for me to conjugate the antibody and store it in -20 degrees in small aliquots?
We do not recommend storing this antibody with PBS buffer only in -20 degrees. If you want to store it in -20 degrees it is best to add some cryoprotectant like glycerol. If you want carrier free M04618 anti-GARS Rabbit Monoclonal antibody, we can provide it to you in a special formula with trehalose and/or glycerol. These molecules will not interfere with conjugation chemistry and provide a good level of protection for the antibody from degradation. Please be sure to specify this in your purchase order.
