Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects glutamyl-tRNA(Gln) amidotransferase subunit B, mitochondrial (gene GATB) in human and mouse samples and is validated for Western blot, flow cytometry and ELISA.
GATB is the catalytic subunit of the mitochondrial glutamyl-tRNA(Gln) amidotransferase (GatCAB). Human mitochondria lack a dedicated glutaminyl-tRNA synthetase, so this complex converts glutamate that was mischarged onto tRNAGln into glutamine, allowing correct mitochondrial protein synthesis. Defects in the complex cause mitochondrial disease.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human and mouse. UniProt places glutamyl-tRNA(Gln) amidotransferase subunit B, mitochondrial in the mitochondrion. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Predominantly expressed in tissues characterized by high rates of oxidative phosphorylation (OxPhos), including muscle and heart.
