Product Overview

This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes glycine amidinotransferase, mitochondrial (gene GATM) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF, flow cytometry and ELISA.

Glycine amidinotransferase (GATM, also called AGAT) is a mitochondrial enzyme that transfers an amidino group from arginine to glycine to make guanidinoacetate. This is the rate-limiting first step of creatine synthesis, followed by methylation by GAMT. Creatine supports energy buffering in muscle, heart and brain, and GATM deficiency causes an inherited creatine deficiency.
