Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects chorion-specific transcription factor GCMa (gene GCM1) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 49.3 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 49 kDa.
GCM1 (glial cells missing homolog 1) is a placenta-specific transcription factor. It drives trophoblast differentiation, including fusion of cytotrophoblasts into syncytiotrophoblast, in part by activating syncytin-1 and genes such as placental growth factor. It is studied in placental development and preeclampsia research.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HepG2 cells, human HeLa cells, human placenta tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): U2OS cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human GCM1 fragment (Glu188–Arg436), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places chorion-specific transcription factor GCMa in the nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Highly expressed in the placenta. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
