Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets growth/differentiation factor 15 (gene Gdf15) in mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, flow cytometry and ELISA.
GDF15 is a distant TGF-β superfamily member that is released in response to cellular stress, inflammation and mitochondrial dysfunction. It acts on the receptor GFRAL in the brainstem to reduce food intake and cause nausea. Circulating GDF15 rises in many conditions, and it is studied in metabolism, cachexia, pregnancy and cardiovascular disease.

Immunogen
Recombinant mouse Gdf15 fragment (Ser189–Ala302), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the human and rat orthologs: 69.1% and 96.5%, respectively.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with mouse and rat. UniProt describes growth/differentiation factor 15 as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (mouse): Detected in plasma (at protein level).
