Product Overview
Clone 20G21 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes growth/differentiation factor 15 (gene GDF15) in human samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 34.1 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 35 kDa.
GDF15 is a distant TGF-β superfamily member that is released in response to cellular stress, inflammation and mitochondrial dysfunction. It acts on the receptor GFRAL in the brainstem to reduce food intake and cause nausea. Circulating GDF15 rises in many conditions, and it is studied in metabolism, cachexia, pregnancy and cardiovascular disease.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): HepG2 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human GDF15.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt describes growth/differentiation factor 15 as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Detected in plasma (at protein level). The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
