Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets solute carrier family 2, facilitated glucose transporter member 4 (gene SLC2A4) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot and IHC. The predicted molecular weight is 54.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 55 kDa.
GLUT4 (SLC2A4) is the insulin-responsive glucose transporter of skeletal muscle, heart and fat cells. Without insulin it is held in intracellular vesicles, and insulin or muscle contraction moves it to the plasma membrane to boost glucose uptake, so GLUT4 trafficking is a central topic in insulin resistance and diabetes research.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Human, Mouse, Rat) |
|---|---|
| IHC (paraffin sections) | 0.5–1 µg/mL (Human, Rat, Mouse) |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat cardiac muscle tissue, rat skeletal muscle tissue, mouse cardiac muscle tissue, mouse skeletal muscle tissue, HeLa cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): rat cardiac muscle tissue, human mammary cancer tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in citrate buffer (pH 6).
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide from the C-terminal region of human GLUT4. The peptide sequence is conserved in rat and mouse.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places solute carrier family 2, facilitated glucose transporter member 4 in the cell membrane, endomembrane system and cytoplasm. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Skeletal and cardiac muscles. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
