Product Overview
Clone GEF-7 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes glycogen (gene GYS1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF, immunoprecipitation and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 83.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 95 kDa.
Glycogen synthase 1 (GYS1) is the muscle isoform of glycogen synthase, the rate-limiting enzyme of glycogen synthesis. It extends the short glucose chain started by glycogenin by adding glucose units from UDP-glucose through α-1,4 linkages. GYS1 activity is controlled by insulin, GSK3 and allosteric glucose-6-phosphate, and it is studied in glucose metabolism and muscle energy storage.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): HeLa cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human glycogen synthase.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in skeletal muscle and most other cell types where glycogen is present. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
