Overview

This antibody is intended for detection of GNB1 (Guanine nucleotide-binding protein G(I)/G(S)/G(T) subunit beta-1) in biological samples using common immunoassay formats. It is typically selected based on target identity, species reactivity, clonality/clone information, and detection modality.

Vendor notes: Boster Bio Anti-GNB1 Antibody Picoband® catalog # PB10067. Tested in Flow Cytometry, IF, IHC, IHC-F, ICC, WB applications. This antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat. The brand Picoband indicates this is a premium antibody that guarantees superior quality, high affinity, and strong signals with minimal background in Western blot applications. Only our best-performing antibodies are designated as Picoband, ensuring unmatched performance.

Key elements and design rationale

  • Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
  • Immunogen / epitope context: A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the N-terminus of human GNB1, identical to the related mouse and rat sequences.
  • Molecular weight context: reported MW: 37 kDa; calculated MW: 37377 MW
  • Reactivity: Human,Mouse,Rat
  • Applications: Flow Cytometry, IF, IHC, IHC-F, ICC, WB

As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.

Biological background

Guanine nucleotide-binding protein G(I)/G(S)/G(T) subunit beta-1; Guanine nucleotide-binding protein G(I)/G(S)/G(T) subunit beta-1. Guanine nucleotide-binding protein G (I)/G (S)/G (T) subunit beta-1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the GNB1 gene. Heterotrimeric guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins), which integrate signals between receptors and effector proteins, are composed of an alpha, a beta, and a gamma subunit. These subunits are encoded by families of related genes. This gene encodes a beta subunit. Beta subunits are important regulators of alpha subunits, as well as of certain signal transduction receptors and effectors. This gene uses alternative polyadenylation signals. Functional note: Guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) are involved as a modulator or transducer in various transmembrane signaling systems. The beta and gamma chains are required for the GTPase activity, for replacement of GDP by GTP, and for G protein- effector interaction. Reported localization: Cytoplasm, cell cortex . Cytoplasm, myofibril, sarcomere, Z line . Under the plasma membrane. After PMA stimulation, GLRX3 and PRKCQ/PKC-theta translocate to a more extended submembrane area. In the Z line, found associated with CSRP3 (By similarity). . Expression/tissue context: Expressed in heart, spleen, testis and, to a lower extent, in thymus and peripheral blood leukocytes. Weakly expressed in lung, placenta, colon and small intestine.

Research relevance and current trends

  • Cancer: Researchers commonly examine how GNB1 (Guanine nucleotide-binding protein G(I)/G(S)/G(T) subunit beta-1) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Cancer Metabolism: Researchers commonly examine how GNB1 (Guanine nucleotide-binding protein G(I)/G(S)/G(T) subunit beta-1) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Energy Transfer Pathways: Researchers commonly examine how GNB1 (Guanine nucleotide-binding protein G(I)/G(S)/G(T) subunit beta-1) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.

Common research applications

  • Western blotting: compare relative GNB1 (Guanine nucleotide-binding protein G(I)/G(S)/G(T) subunit beta-1) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
  • IHC/IHC-F: assess spatial distribution of GNB1 (Guanine nucleotide-binding protein G(I)/G(S)/G(T) subunit beta-1) across tissue regions and cell types using matched controls.
  • IF/ICC: evaluate subcellular localization and co-localization patterns; signal can depend on fixation/permeabilization and epitope accessibility.
  • Flow cytometry: quantify target-positive populations and shifts in expression; gating strategy and background staining controls are essential.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins
  • Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
  • Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.
