Key elements and design rationale
- Target: GNG4 (RNA-binding protein 47); UniProt: P50150
- Antibody format: Rabbit, Polyclonal, Rabbit IgG
- Molecular weight: 12 kDa, calculated 64099 MW
- Applications: WB, IHC, Flow Cytometry, ELISA
Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-GNG4 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A13925-1.
Biological background
Biological context: Can bind to the surface of B-lymphoma cells, but not T- lymphoma cells, consistent with a function as a secreted mediator acting upon B-cells.
Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Nucleus ., tissue context: Abundantly expressed in tonsil, lymph node, and trachea; strong expression in prostate; lower expression in thyroid, stomach, and colon. ..
Common research applications
- Western blotting (WB): Compare GNG4 levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of GNG4 in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
- Flow cytometry: Quantify GNG4-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
- ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
- Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.
Additional product notes (from provided fields)
- Background: Guanine nucleotide-binding protein G (I)/G (S)/G (O) subunit gamma-4 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the GNG4 gene. This gene encodes the gamma subunit of the heterotrimeric G-proteins that are comprised of alpha, beta and gamma subunits. Upon activation by G protein-coupled receptors, the beta-gamma heterodimer dissociates from the alpha subunit to activate downstream signaling events. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
- Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins
- Cellular localization: Nucleus .
- Tissue details: Abundantly expressed in tonsil, lymph node, and trachea; strong expression in prostate; lower expression in thyroid, stomach, and colon. .
- Research category: Chromatin Binding Proteins,DNA/RNA Binding,Epigenetics and Nuclear Signaling
