Product Overview

This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets somatotropin (gene GH1) in human samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 24.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 22 kDa.

Growth hormone (GH1, somatotropin) is a pituitary hormone that acts through the growth hormone receptor and JAK2–STAT5 signaling. It drives body growth largely by stimulating IGF-1 production in the liver and other tissues, and it also affects protein, fat and glucose metabolism. GH is studied across human, mouse and rat models of growth and metabolism.

Validated Applications

Western blot 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Human)

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human placenta tissue.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.

Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.

Immunogen

Recombinant human Growth Hormone/GH1 fragment (Phe27–Phe217), expressed in E. coli.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt describes somatotropin as a secreted protein. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Handle with standard laboratory precautions.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
A.Validated applications with suggested starting dilutions: Western blot 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Human). Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory.
Q.Which species does this antibody react with?
A.Validated reactivity: Human. Other species are not listed by the supplier.
Q.What band size should be expected in Western blot?
A.Reported by the supplier: calculated molecular weight 24.8 kDa; observed band at about 22 kDa. A difference from the calculated size is common and can reflect post-translational modification, processing or isoform differences.
Q.What immunogen was used to raise this antibody?
A.Recombinant human Growth Hormone/GH1 fragment (Phe27–Phe217), expressed in E. coli.
Q.How should this antibody be stored?
A.As supplied: −20 °C for up to 12 months from receipt. After reconstitution: 4 °C for up to 1 month, or aliquot and keep at −20 °C for up to 6 months. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
