Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets somatotropin (gene Gh1) in rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 24.7 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 22 kDa.
Growth hormone (GH1, somatotropin) is a pituitary hormone that acts through the growth hormone receptor and JAK2–STAT5 signaling. It drives body growth largely by stimulating IGF-1 production in the liver and other tissues, and it also affects protein, fat and glucose metabolism. GH is studied across human, mouse and rat models of growth and metabolism.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Rat) |
|---|---|
| IHC (paraffin sections) | 2–5 µg/mL (Rat) |
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): rat brain tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Immunogen
Recombinant rat GH fragment (Phe27–Phe216), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with rat. UniProt describes somatotropin as a secreted protein. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
