Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets somatotropin (gene GH1) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 24.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 22 kDa.
Growth hormone (GH1, somatotropin) is a pituitary hormone that acts through the growth hormone receptor and JAK2–STAT5 signaling. It drives body growth largely by stimulating IGF-1 production in the liver and other tissues, and it also affects protein, fat and glucose metabolism. GH is studied across human, mouse and rat models of growth and metabolism.

Validated Applications
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
|---|---|
| IHC (paraffin sections) | 0.5–1 µg/mL (Human) |
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Human) |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human placenta tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human placenta tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Immunogen
Recombinant human GH fragment (Phe27–Phe217), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt describes somatotropin as a secreted protein. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls. A carrier-free (BSA-free) format can be requested; specify it in the order note.
