Product Overview
Clone BOO-8 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes endoplasmic reticulum chaperone BiP (gene HSPA5) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and ICC/IF. The predicted molecular weight is 72.3 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 72 kDa.
BiP (HSPA5, also called GRP78) is the main HSP70 chaperone of the endoplasmic reticulum lumen. It helps fold and assemble newly made secreted and membrane proteins, holds misfolded ones for degradation, and controls the unfolded protein response sensors IRE1, PERK and ATF6. It is a standard marker of ER stress.

| Immunohistochemistry | 1:50–1:200 |
| Immunocytochemistry / Immunofluorescence | 1:50–1:200 |
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human non-Hodgkin's lymphoma tissue, human thyroid cancer tissue, human prostate cancer tissue, rat testis tissue, mouse skin tissue, human pancreas tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human GRP78 BiP.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places endoplasmic reticulum chaperone BiP in the endoplasmic reticulum lumen, melanosome, cytoplasm and cell surface. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
