Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-GTF2F2 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A10896-1.

Biological background

Biological context: Stimulates the release of tumor necrosis factor alpha and IL-1-beta from the monocytic cell line THP-1. .

Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Secreted., tissue context: Expressed in adult pancreas, small intestine, stomach, spinal cord and testis. Less pronounced expression in prostate, colon mucosal lining, and ovary..

Common research applications

  • Western blotting (WB): Compare GTF2F2 levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of GTF2F2 in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
  • Immunofluorescence / ICC: Assess subcellular localization patterns and co-localization with compartment markers in cultured cells.
  • Flow cytometry: Quantify GTF2F2-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
  • ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
  • Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.

Additional product notes (from provided fields)

  • Background: General transcription factor IIF subunit 2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the GTF2F2 gene. In eukaryotic systems, initiation of transcription from protein-coding genes is a complex process requiring RNA polymerase II and broad families of auxiliary transcription factors. Such factors can be divided into two major functional classes: the basal factors that are required for transcription of all Pol II genes, including TFIIA, TFIIB, TFIID, TFIIE, TFIIF and TFIIH; and sequence-specific factors that regulate gene expression. The basal transcription factors and Pol II form a specific multiprotein complex near the transcription start site by interacting with core promotor elements such as the TATA box generally located 25-30 base pairs upstream of the transcription start site. TFIIF, a heteromer composed of a small (RAP 30) and a large (RAP 74) subunit, is required for RNA polymerase II to assemble into a preinitiation complex formed by promotor DNA and the general factors TFIID, IIA and IIB. In addition, TFIIF stimulates transcription elongation by RNA polymerase II.
  • Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cellular localization: Secreted.
  • Tissue details: Expressed in adult pancreas, small intestine, stomach, spinal cord and testis. Less pronounced expression in prostate, colon mucosal lining, and ovary.
  • Research category: Cytokines,Immunology,Innate Immunity,Interleukins
