Product Overview
Clone 26G72 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes general transcription factor II-I (gene GTF2I) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and ICC/IF. The predicted molecular weight is 112.4 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 135 kDa.
General transcription factor II-I (GTF2I, TFII-I) is a multifunctional transcription factor that binds initiator and E-box-like promoter elements and also responds to signaling cues. It helps coordinate complexes at promoters such as c-fos and interacts with factors including SRF and USF1. GTF2I lies in the region deleted in Williams–Beuren syndrome and is studied in transcription and signal responses.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human SH-SY5Y cells, human RT4 cells, human A431 cells, human HepG2 cells, rat C6 cells, mouse brain tissue, mouse Neuro-2a cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 8% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1:500 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human bladder cancer tissue, human thyroid cancer tissue, mouse kidney tissue, rat kidney tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of GTF2I.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places general transcription factor II-I in the cytoplasm and nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Ubiquitous. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
