Product Overview

Clone 20C70 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes cadherin-13 (gene CDH13) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot and IHC. The predicted molecular weight is 78.3 kDa; the supplier reports observed bands at 105, 130 kDa.

Cadherin-13 (CDH13), also called T-cadherin or H-cadherin, is an atypical cadherin that lacks transmembrane and cytoplasmic domains and is attached to the membrane by a GPI anchor. It acts as a receptor for adiponectin and LDL and regulates neural and vascular cell growth, making it relevant to cardiovascular and neurodevelopmental research.

Validated Applications

Western blot 1:500–1:2000
Immunohistochemistry 1:50–1:200

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human fetal heart.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.

Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human cervical cancer tissue, human squamous cells carcinoma tissue, mouse skeletal muscle tissue.

Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human H Cadherin.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places cadherin-13 in the cell membrane and cytoplasm. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Highly expressed in heart. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide as a preservative. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
A.Validated applications with suggested starting dilutions: Western blot 1:500–1:2000; Immunohistochemistry 1:50–1:200. Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory.
Q.Which species does this antibody react with?
A.Validated reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat. Other species are not listed by the supplier.
Q.What band size should be expected in Western blot?
A.Reported by the supplier: calculated molecular weight 78.3 kDa; observed bands at about 105 and 130 kDa. A difference from the calculated size is common and can reflect post-translational modification, processing or isoform differences.
Q.What immunogen was used to raise this antibody?
A.Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human H Cadherin.
Q.How should this antibody be stored?
A.Long term: −20 °C for up to 12 months. Frequent use: 4 °C for up to 1 month. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
