Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects 2-Hydroxyacid oxidase 2 (gene HAO2) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 38.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 39 kDa.
2-Hydroxyacid oxidase 2 (HAO2) is a peroxisomal flavin-dependent oxidase expressed mainly in kidney and liver. It oxidizes medium- and long-chain 2-hydroxy acids to 2-oxo acids and may contribute to fatty acid α-oxidation, producing hydrogen peroxide as a by-product. HAO2 is studied in peroxisomal metabolism and kidney biology.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Human, Mouse, Rat) |
|---|---|
| Flow cytometry (fixed cells) | 1–3 µg/1×106 cells (Human) |
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human 293T cells, human HepG2 cells, rat liver tissue, rat kidney tissue, mouse liver tissue, mouse kidney tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): 293T cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human HAO2 fragment (Arg50–Leu351), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the mouse and rat orthologs: 71.1% and 73.7%, respectively.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places 2-Hydroxyacid oxidase 2 in the peroxisome. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in the liver and kidney. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
