Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects vigilin (gene HDLBP) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 141.5 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 150 kDa.
Vigilin (HDLBP) is a large RNA-binding protein with 14 KH domains, originally identified as a high-density lipoprotein-binding protein. It binds many mRNAs, associates with the endoplasmic reticulum and supports translation of secreted and membrane proteins, and it has been linked to cellular cholesterol handling. Vigilin is studied in RNA biology and lipid metabolism.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.1–0.25 µg/mL (Human, Mouse, Rat) |
|---|---|
| Immunocytochemistry / Immunofluorescence | 5 µg/mL (Human) |
| Flow cytometry (fixed cells) | 1–3 µg/1×106 cells (Human) |
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human A549 cells, human 293T cells, human Jurkat cells, human HepG2 cells, rat liver tissue, rat RH35 cells, mouse liver tissue, mouse NIH/3T3 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.25 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): HeLa cells.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): 293T cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human HDLBP fragment (His15–Ala1231), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the mouse and rat orthologs: 97.9% and 97.6%, respectively.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places vigilin in the cytoplasm and nucleus. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
