Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes hemopexin (gene HPX) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 51.7 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 72 kDa.
Hemopexin (HPX) is a plasma glycoprotein made mainly by the liver that binds free heme with very high affinity. It carries heme to the liver, where the complex is taken up and the heme is broken down and its iron recovered, protecting tissues from heme-driven oxidative damage. It is studied in hemolysis and heme metabolism.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HepG2 cells, human hcct tissue, human hccp tissue, human placenta tissue, rat liver tissue, rat RH35 cells, mouse liver tissue, mouse HEPA1–6 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt describes hemopexin as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed by the liver and secreted in plasma. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
