Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 3C (gene HTR3C) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 50.2 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 50 kDa.
HTR3C is one of the subunits of the 5-HT3 receptor, the only serotonin receptor that is a ligand-gated ion channel rather than a G protein-coupled receptor. When assembled with the HTR3A subunit, it contributes to cation channels that open on serotonin binding and trigger fast depolarizing responses in neurons.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Human, Mouse, Rat) |
|---|---|
| Immunocytochemistry / Immunofluorescence | 5 µg/mL (Human) |
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human A549 cells, rat C6 cells, mouse lung tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): U2OS cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human HTR3C fragment (Asp79–Gln417), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 3C in the postsynaptic cell membrane and cell membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in many tissues including adult brain, colon, intestine, lung, muscle and stomach as well as fetal colon and kidney. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
