Product Overview

Antibody IB4 recognizes the beta 2 integrin subunit (CD18) adhesion molecule of about 95 kd (1, 6).

Human CD18 (beta integrin) forms a heterodimer with either alpha L, alpha M, or alpha X integrins (CD11a, b or c). CD11/CD18 heterodimeric molecules are involved with cell/cell and cell/extracellular adhesion in immune and inflammatory responses.

Functional Activity

Antibody IB4 blocks binding of ICAM-1 and ICAM-3 to LFA-1 (2, 5). IB4 F(ab’)2 was used as a positive control to block adhesion of Neutrophils to recombinant CD54 (7) or A431 tumor cells (8) in vitro. IB4 blocks Trogocytic killing of Trichomonis vaginalis by human Neutrophil-like cells(9).

Safety & Handling

What applications has this antibody been validated for?

This antibody has been validated for FC. Always refer to the product datasheet for recommended dilution ranges and appropriate positive control samples for each application type.

Which species does this antibody react with?

Validated reactivity has been confirmed for Human, Primate, Rabbit. Cross-reactivity with additional species may exist based on sequence homology but has not been confirmed by the manufacturer. For unlisted species, we recommend running a preliminary validation experiment.

What secondary antibody should I pair with this product?

This antibody was raised in Mouse. For indirect detection (WB, IHC, IF), select an anti-Mouse secondary antibody that matches the isotype. For direct detection, check the variant selector for conjugated formats. Confirm secondary antibody compatibility before ordering.

What is the immunogen used to generate this antibody?

Human peripheral blood monocytes

How should this antibody be stored?

Please refer to the storage conditions on the product label and datasheet. As a general best practice: upon receipt, aliquot into single-use volumes to minimize freeze-thaw cycling, which can progressively reduce antibody performance and lead to aggregation.

Is this antibody suitable for use with my specific cell line or tissue?

Validated reactivity covers Human, Primate, Rabbit samples. Performance can vary across different cell lines and tissue types depending on target antigen expression levels and epitope accessibility. We recommend verifying target expression in your specific model system using a known positive control before proceeding to experimental samples.
