Product Overview

Antibody 1.3.3.22 reacts with the 24 kd tetraspan CD81 molecule (1). The binding site of this mAb interferes with the binding of Hepatiatis C E2 glycoprotein to CD81 and may involve Leu162 (8).

Human CD81 is a member of the tetraspan family of leukocyte cell surface molecules which are involved in signal transduction, cell-cell adhesion, and cellular activation (1). Association of CD81 with integrins appears to be functionally important in the regulation of cell adhesion and activation (2, 3). Work with CD81-null mice indicates CD81 is important for development of humoral immune response (4). The level of cell surface CD81 decreases rapidly upon activation of T or B cell, and appears to be shed off in exosomes (6). CD81 colocalizes with intracellular HIV-1 containing vesicals (5) and interacts with Gag viral assembly protiens(7).

What applications has this antibody been validated for?

This antibody has been validated for FC, WB. Always refer to the product datasheet for recommended dilution ranges and appropriate positive control samples for each application type.

Which species does this antibody react with?

Validated reactivity has been confirmed for Human. Cross-reactivity with additional species may exist based on sequence homology but has not been confirmed by the manufacturer. For unlisted species, we recommend running a preliminary validation experiment.

What secondary antibody should I pair with this product?

This antibody was raised in Mouse. For indirect detection (WB, IHC, IF), select an anti-Mouse secondary antibody that matches the isotype. For direct detection, check the variant selector for conjugated formats. Confirm secondary antibody compatibility before ordering.

What is the immunogen used to generate this antibody?

Human B cell line from Burkitt lymphoma

How should this antibody be stored?

Please refer to the storage conditions on the product label and datasheet. As a general best practice: upon receipt, aliquot into single-use volumes to minimize freeze-thaw cycling, which can progressively reduce antibody performance and lead to aggregation.

Is this antibody suitable for use with my specific cell line or tissue?

Validated reactivity covers Human samples. Performance can vary across different cell lines and tissue types depending on target antigen expression levels and epitope accessibility. We recommend verifying target expression in your specific model system using a known positive control before proceeding to experimental samples.
