Product Overview

This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects interferon gamma (gene Ifng) in rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 17.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 22 kDa.

Interferon gamma is the only type II interferon. It is produced mainly by activated T cells and NK cells, signals through IFNGR1/IFNGR2 and the JAK1/JAK2–STAT1 pathway, and activates macrophages and antigen presentation, making it a key readout of Th1 and cytotoxic immune responses.

E. coli-derived rat IFN gamma recombinant protein (Position: 23–156).

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with rat. UniProt describes interferon gamma as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (rat): Released primarily from activated T lymphocytes. A carrier-free (BSA-free) format can be requested; specify it in the order note.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide as a preservative. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
A.Validated applications with suggested starting dilutions: Western blot 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Rat); IHC (paraffin sections) 0.5–1 µg/mL (Rat); ELISA 0.1–0.5 µg/mL. Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory.
Q.Which species does this antibody react with?
A.Validated reactivity: Rat. Other species are not listed by the supplier.
Q.Is a blocking reagent available for this antibody?
A.A matching blocking reagent for competition (specificity) controls can be supplied on request. Contact info@biohippo.com to request it.
Q.What band size should be expected in Western blot?
A.Reported by the supplier: calculated molecular weight 17.9 kDa; observed band at about 22 kDa. A difference from the calculated size is common and can reflect post-translational modification, processing or isoform differences.
Q.What immunogen was used to raise this antibody?
A.E. coli-derived rat IFN gamma recombinant protein (Position: 23–156).
Q.How should this antibody be stored?
A.As supplied: −20 °C for up to 12 months from receipt. After reconstitution: 4 °C for up to 1 month, or aliquot and keep at −20 °C for up to 6 months. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
