Product Overview

This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets interferon gamma (gene Ifng) in mouse samples and is validated for Western blot and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 17.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 78 kDa.

Interferon gamma is the only type II interferon. It is produced mainly by activated T cells and NK cells, signals through IFNGR1/IFNGR2 and the JAK1/JAK2–STAT1 pathway, and activates macrophages and antigen presentation, making it a key readout of Th1 and cytotoxic immune responses.

Validated Applications

Western blot 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Recombinant protein)
ELISA 0.1–0.5 µg/mL

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): recombinant mouse Ifng protein.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.

Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.

Immunogen

Recombinant mouse IFN Gamma/Ifng fragment (His23–Cys155), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the human and rat orthologs: 40.3% and 86.5%, respectively.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with mouse. UniProt describes interferon gamma as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (mouse): Released primarily from activated T lymphocytes. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Handle with standard laboratory precautions.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
A.Validated applications with suggested starting dilutions: Western blot 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Recombinant protein); ELISA 0.1–0.5 µg/mL. Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory.
Q.Which species does this antibody react with?
A.Validated reactivity: Mouse. Other species are not listed by the supplier.
Q.What band size should be expected in Western blot?
A.Reported by the supplier: calculated molecular weight 17.9 kDa; observed band at about 78 kDa. A difference from the calculated size is common and can reflect post-translational modification, processing or isoform differences.
Q.What immunogen was used to raise this antibody?
A.Recombinant mouse IFN Gamma/Ifng fragment (His23–Cys155), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the human and rat orthologs: 40.3% and 86.5%, respectively.
Q.How should this antibody be stored?
A.As supplied: −20 °C for up to 12 months from receipt. After reconstitution: 4 °C for up to 1 month, or aliquot and keep at −20 °C for up to 6 months. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
