Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-IFNAR2 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A02056-3.

Biological background

Biological context: Associates with IFNAR1 to form the type I interferon receptor. Receptor for interferons alpha and beta. Involved in IFN-mediated STAT1, STAT2 and STAT3 activation. Isoform 1 and isoform 2 are ly involved in signal transduction due to their association with the TYR kinase, JAK1. Isoform 3 is a potent inhibitor of type I IFN receptor activity.

Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Cell membrane. Single-pass type I membrane protein. Secreted., tissue context: Isoform 3 is detected in the urine. Expressed in blood cells. Expressed in lymphoblastoid and fibrosarcoma cell lines..

Common research applications

  • Western blotting (WB): Compare IFNAR2 levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of IFNAR2 in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
  • Immunofluorescence / ICC: Assess subcellular localization patterns and co-localization with compartment markers in cultured cells.
  • Flow cytometry: Quantify IFNAR2-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
  • ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
  • Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.

Additional product notes (from provided fields)

  • Specificity: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
  • Background: Interferon-alpha/beta receptor beta chain is a protein that in humans is encoded by the IFNAR2 gene. It is mapped to 21q22.11. The protein encoded by this gene is a type I membrane protein that forms one of the two chains of a receptor for interferons alpha and beta. Binding and activation of the receptor stimulates Janus protein kinases, which in turn phosphorylate several proteins, including STAT1 and STAT2. Multiple transcript variants encoding at least two different isoforms have been found for this gene.
  • Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cellular localization: Cell membrane. Single-pass type I membrane protein. Secreted.
  • Tissue details: Isoform 3 is detected in the urine. Expressed in blood cells. Expressed in lymphoblastoid and fibrosarcoma cell lines.
  • Research category: Signal Transduction
