Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 3 (gene Igfbp3) in rat samples and is validated for ELISA and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 31.7 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 40 kDa.
IGFBP-3 is the most abundant insulin-like growth factor binding protein in the circulation, where it forms a ternary complex with IGF-1 or IGF-2 and the acid-labile subunit that prolongs their half-life. It also has IGF-independent antiproliferative and pro-apoptotic effects, and its circulating levels are widely measured alongside IGF-1 in growth research.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat heart tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.

Recombinant rat IGFBP3 fragment (Ala29–Lys268), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with rat. UniProt describes insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 3 as secreted and also located in the nucleus. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
