Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 5 (gene IGFBP5) in human samples and is validated for ELISA and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 30.6 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 31 kDa.
IGFBP-5 is a secreted insulin-like growth factor binding protein that can bind to the extracellular matrix and either enhance or inhibit IGF actions depending on context. It is highly conserved and is studied in bone formation, mammary gland involution, fibrosis and cancer.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human PC-3 cells, human HeLa cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Recombinant human IGFBP5 fragment (Ala60–Glu272), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the mouse and rat orthologs: 96.7% and 96.2%, respectively.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt describes insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 5 as secreted and also located in the cytoplasm and nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Osteosarcoma, and at lower levels in liver, kidney and brain. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
