Overview

This antibody is intended for detection of IL15 (Interleukin-15) in biological samples using common immunoassay formats. It is typically selected based on target identity, species reactivity, clonality/clone information, and detection modality.

Vendor notes: Boster Bio Anti-IL15 Antibody Picoband® catalog # PB9244. Tested in ELISA, WB applications. This antibody reacts with Human. The brand Picoband indicates this is a premium antibody that guarantees superior quality, high affinity, and strong signals with minimal background in Western blot applications. Only our best-performing antibodies are designated as Picoband, ensuring unmatched performance.

Key elements and design rationale

  • Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
  • Immunogen / epitope context: E.coli-derived human IL-15 recombinant protein (Position: N49-S162). Human IL-15 shares 70% amino acid (aa) sequence identity with both mouse and rat IL-15. (reported region: N49-S162).
  • Molecular weight context: reported MW: 15 kDa; calculated MW: 18086 MW
  • Reactivity: Human
  • Applications: ELISA, WB

As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.

Biological background

Interleukin-15; Interleukin-15. Interleukin (IL)-15 is a cytokine with the ability to stimulate the proliferation activity of Th1 and/or Th2 lymphocytes. This gene is mapped to human chromosome 4q31 by fluorescence in situ hybridization. IL-15 is a novel cytokine whose effects on T-cell activation and proliferation are similar to those of interleukin-2 (IL-2), presumably because IL-15 utilizes the beta and gamma chains of the IL-2 receptor. IL-15 can play a role in the initiation and outcome of acute and chronic rejection. Anti-IL-15 therapy in combination with classic immunosuppression therapy might be beneficial in the prevention of acute, and especially chronic, allograft rejection. Functional note: Cytokine that stimulates the proliferation of T- lymphocytes. Stimulation by IL-15 requires interaction of IL-15 with components of IL-2R, including IL-2R beta and probably IL-2R gamma but not IL-2R alpha. Reported localization: Isoform IL15-S48AA: Secreted. Expression/tissue context: Most abundant in placenta and skeletal muscle. It is also detected in the heart, lung, liver and kidney. IL15- S21AA is preferentially expressed in tissues such as testis and thymus.

Research relevance and current trends

  • Antiviral Signaling: Researchers commonly examine how IL15 (Interleukin-15) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Cancer: Researchers commonly examine how IL15 (Interleukin-15) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Cytokines: Researchers commonly examine how IL15 (Interleukin-15) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.

Common research applications

  • Western blotting: compare relative IL15 (Interleukin-15) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
  • ELISA-compatible use: when applicable, interpret signal as relative abundance across sample sets with consistent handling and dilution strategy.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins
  • Family / similarity context: Belongs to the IL-15/IL-21 family.
  • Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
  • Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.

Is this PB9244 anti-IL15 antibody reactive to the isotypes of IL15?
The immunogen of PB9244 anti-IL15 antibody is E.coli-derived human IL-15 recombinant protein (Position: N49-S162). Human IL-15 shares 70% amino acid (aa) sequence identity with both mouse and rat IL-15. Could you tell me which isotype you are interested in so I can help see if the immunogen is part of this isotype?
We were well pleased with the WB result of your anti-IL15 antibody. However we have observed positive staining in cerebellum heart isoform il15-s21aa: cytoplasm. nucleus. using this antibody. Is that expected? Could you tell me where is IL15 supposed to be expressed?
From literature, cerebellum heart does express IL15. Generally IL15 expresses in isoform il15-s48aa: secreted., isoform il15-s21aa: cytoplasm. nucleus. Regarding which tissues have IL15 expression, here are a few articles citing expression in various tissues: Bone marrow, Pubmed ID: 8178155 Cerebellum, and Heart, Pubmed ID: 14702039 Colon, Pubmed ID: 15489334 Epidermis, Pubmed ID: 15123770 Lung cancer, Pubmed ID: 8668345 Testis, Pubmed ID: 9405632
