Overview

This antibody is intended for detection of Il17f (G2/mitotic-specific cyclin-B2) in biological samples using common immunoassay formats. It is typically selected based on target identity, species reactivity, clonality/clone information, and detection modality.

Vendor notes: Boster Bio Anti-IL17F Antibody Picoband® catalog # A02062-2. Tested in ELISA, WB applications. This antibody reacts with Mouse, Rat. The brand Picoband indicates this is a premium antibody that guarantees superior quality, high affinity, and strong signals with minimal background in Western blot applications. Only our best-performing antibodies are designated as Picoband, ensuring unmatched performance.

Key elements and design rationale

  • Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
  • Immunogen / epitope context: E. coli-derived mouse IL17F recombinant protein (Position: R29-A161). (reported region: R29-A161).
  • Molecular weight context: reported MW: 30 kDa; calculated MW: 37492 MW
  • Reactivity: Mouse,Rat
  • Applications: ELISA, WB

As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.

Biological background

G2/mitotic-specific cyclin-B2; interleukin 17F. Interleukin 17F, also called IL17F is involved in the regulation of normal versus aberrant T-cell responses. This gene is mapped to 6p12.2. The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that shares sequence similarity with IL17. This cytokine is expressed by activated T cells, and has been shown to stimulate the production of several other cytokines, including IL6, IL8, and CSF2/GM_CSF. This cytokine is also found to inhibit the angiogenesis of endothelial cells and induce endothelial cells to produce IL2, TGFB1/TGFB, and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1. It is suggested that targeting IL17 and IL17F or antagonizing IL17R might mitigate neutrophil-mediated inflammation in CF. Functional note: Ligand for IL17RA and IL17RC (PubMed:17911633). The heterodimer formed by IL17A and IL17F is a ligand for the heterodimeric complex formed by IL17RA and IL17RC (By similarity). Involved in stimulating the production of other cytokines such as IL6, IL8 and CSF2, and in regulation of cartilage matrix turnover. Also involved in stimulating the proliferation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells and T-cells and in inhibition of angiogenesis (By similarity). Plays a role in the induction of neutrophilia in the lungs and in the exacerbation of antigen-induced pulmonary allergic inflammation (PubMed:15477493). Reported localization: Secreted. Expression/tissue context: Expressed by a subset of activated T-cells in the lamina propria.

Research relevance and current trends

  • Angiogenesis: Researchers commonly examine how Il17f (G2/mitotic-specific cyclin-B2) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Cancer: Researchers commonly examine how Il17f (G2/mitotic-specific cyclin-B2) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Cardiovascular: Researchers commonly examine how Il17f (G2/mitotic-specific cyclin-B2) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.

Common research applications

  • Western blotting: compare relative Il17f (G2/mitotic-specific cyclin-B2) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
  • ELISA-compatible use: when applicable, interpret signal as relative abundance across sample sets with consistent handling and dilution strategy.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
  • Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
  • Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.
