Product Overview
Clone GEI-9 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes interleukin-1 receptor antagonist protein (gene IL1RN) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF, immunoprecipitation and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 20.1 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 20 kDa.
The interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1Ra, IL1RN) is a natural inhibitor of IL-1 signaling. It binds IL1R1 without recruiting the co-receptor IL1RAP, blocking the actions of IL-1α and IL-1β, and deficiency of IL1RN causes severe autoinflammation, highlighting its role in keeping IL-1 activity in check.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human IL1RA.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): The intracellular form of IL1RN is predominantly expressed in epithelial cells. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
