Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets interleukin-27 subunit alpha (gene Il27) in rat samples and is validated for ELISA and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 26.5 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 29 kDa.
IL-27 p28 (IL27, also IL-30) is the subunit that pairs with EBI3 to form the heterodimeric cytokine IL-27. Acting through the WSX-1/gp130 receptor and STAT1/STAT3 signaling, IL-27 has both pro- and anti-inflammatory effects: it favors early Th1 responses, restrains Th2 and Th17 differentiation, and helps limit excessive T-cell activation.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat NRK cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.

Recombinant mouse IL27 fragment (Phe29–Ser234), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with rat. UniProt describes interleukin-27 subunit alpha as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (mouse): Expressed in macrophages and dendritic cells. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
