Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes interleukin-6 (gene Il6) in mouse samples and is validated for Western blot and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 24.4 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 30 kDa.
Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a multifunctional cytokine released by macrophages, dendritic cells and many other cells during infection and tissue injury. It binds IL-6R and then the signaling subunit gp130, activating JAK–STAT3 through classic or trans-signaling. IL-6 drives the acute phase response, B-cell differentiation and Th17 development, and it is one of the most widely measured inflammatory markers.

Validated Applications
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
|---|---|
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Mouse) |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): mouse J774A.1 cells, mouse RAW264.7 cells, mouse ANA-1 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Recombinant mouse IL-6 fragment (Phe25–Thr211), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the human and rat orthologs: 40% and 85%, respectively.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with mouse. UniProt describes interleukin-6 as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (mouse): Expressed by dendritic cells and macrophages. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
