Compound Overview
Anti-inflammatory agent 53 is an orally active, selective COX-2 inhibitor. It exhibits anti-HT29 transfer activity, leading to periodic arrest in S phase and G2/M phase, and shows a favorable safety profile with a moderate ability to suppress inflammation. It also has the notable property of suppressing tumor development in a mouse model, demonstrating anticancer activity[1]. It has the molecular formula C24H22N2O4S and a molecular weight of 434.51 g/mol.

Safety
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, and not for human or veterinary use. Handle in accordance with your institution's chemical hygiene plan.
In Vitro
Anti-inflammatory agent 53 (0.025 μM; 24 h) inhibits colony formation of HT29 cells and arrests the cell cycle at G2/M and S phase[1].
In Vivo
In Ehrlich solid carcinoma-bearing mice, Anti-inflammatory agent 53, given po at 50 mg/kg every other day for two weeks, decreases tumor volume and weight[1].
