Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-Integrin beta 5/ITGB5 Antibody Picoband® (monoclonal, 9E2) catalog # M04201.

Biological background

Biological context: Acts as a nucleotide-exchange factor (NEF) for chaperone proteins HSPA1A and HSPA1B, promoting the release of ADP from HSPA1A/B thereby triggering client/substrate protein release. Prevents the aggregation of denatured proteins in cells under severe stress, on which the ATP levels decrease markedly. Inhibits HSPA8/HSC70 ATPase and chaperone activities.

Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Cytoplasm., tissue context: Highly expressed in testis. Present at lower levels in most brain regions, except cerebellum. Overexpressed in cancer cells..

Common research applications

  • Western blotting (WB): Compare ITGB5 levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of ITGB5 in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
  • Flow cytometry: Quantify ITGB5-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
  • ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
  • Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.

Additional product notes (from provided fields)

  • Background: This gene encodes a beta subunit of integrin, which can combine with different alpha chains to form a variety of integrin heterodimers. Integrins are integral cell-surface receptors that participate in cell adhesion as well as cell-surface mediated signaling. The alphav beta5 integrin is involved in adhesion to vitronectin.
  • Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cellular localization: Cytoplasm.
  • Tissue details: Highly expressed in testis. Present at lower levels in most brain regions, except cerebellum. Overexpressed in cancer cells.
  • Research category: Cell Adhesion Proteins,Epigenetics and Nuclear Signaling,Integrins,Mediator Complex,Neuroscience,Receptors,Transcription
