Product Overview

This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes interferon gamma (gene Ifng) in rat samples and is validated for Western blot and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 17.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 19 kDa.

Interferon gamma is the only type II interferon. It is produced mainly by activated T cells and NK cells, signals through IFNGR1/IFNGR2 and the JAK1/JAK2–STAT1 pathway, and activates macrophages and antigen presentation, making it a key readout of Th1 and cytotoxic immune responses.

Target Interferon gamma (gene Ifng; UniProt P01581, rat)
Host / Clonality / Isotype Rabbit / Polyclonal / Rabbit IgG
Reactivity Rat
Form Lyophilized

Validated Applications

ELISA 0.1–0.5 µg/mL
Western blot 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Rat)

Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.

Immunogen

Recombinant rat IFN gamma fragment (Gln23–Cys156), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the human and mouse orthologs: 38% and 86%, respectively.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with rat. UniProt describes interferon gamma as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (rat): Released primarily from activated T lymphocytes.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide as a preservative. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
