Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects interleukin-6 (gene IL6) in human samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 23.7 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 24 kDa.
Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a multifunctional cytokine released by macrophages, dendritic cells and many other cells during infection and tissue injury. It binds IL-6R and then the signaling subunit gp130, activating JAK–STAT3 through classic or trans-signaling. IL-6 drives the acute phase response, B-cell differentiation and Th17 development, and it is one of the most widely measured inflammatory markers.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): recombinant human IL6 protein.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 13% SDS-PAGE, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.

The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt describes interleukin-6 as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Produced by skeletal muscle. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
