Overview

This antibody is intended for detection of IRF5 (Interferon regulatory factor 5) in biological samples using common immunoassay formats. It is typically selected based on target identity, species reactivity, clonality/clone information, and detection modality.

Vendor notes: Boster Bio Anti-IRF5 Antibody Picoband® catalog # PB9646. Tested in IHC, WB applications. This antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat. The brand Picoband indicates this is a premium antibody that guarantees superior quality, high affinity, and strong signals with minimal background in Western blot applications. Only our best-performing antibodies are designated as Picoband, ensuring unmatched performance.

Key elements and design rationale

  • Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
  • Immunogen / epitope context: A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the C-terminus of human IRF5, different from the related mouse sequence by three amino acids.
  • Molecular weight context: reported MW: 56 kDa; calculated MW: 56044 MW
  • Reactivity: Human,Mouse,Rat
  • Applications: IHC, WB

As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.

Biological background

Interferon regulatory factor 5; Interferon regulatory factor 5. Interferon regulatory factor 5, also called IRF5 or SLEB10, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the IRF5 gene. IRF5 gene is mapped to 7q32.1. This gene encodes a member of the interferon regulatory factor (IRF) family, a group of transcription factors with diverse roles, including virus-mediated activation of interferon, and modulation of cell growth, differentiation, apoptosis, and immune system activity. Members of the IRF family are characterized by a conserved N-terminal DNA-binding domain containing tryptophan (W) repeats. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene, and a 30-nt indel polymorphism (SNP rs60344245) can result in loss of a 10-aa segment. This gene is a transcription factor involved in the induction of interferons IFNA and INFB and inflammatory cytokines upon virus infection. Functional note: Transcription factor involved in the induction of interferons IFNA and INFB and inflammatory cytokines upon virus infection. Activated by TLR7 or TLR8 signaling. . Reported localization: Cytoplasm. Nucleus. Shuttles between the nucleus and the cytoplasm. Expression/tissue context: Expressed throughout the epithelium of the colon. Also expressed in lamina propria. .

Research relevance and current trends

  • Cytokines: Researchers commonly examine how IRF5 (Interferon regulatory factor 5) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Domain Families: Researchers commonly examine how IRF5 (Interferon regulatory factor 5) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Epigenetics and Nuclear Signaling: Researchers commonly examine how IRF5 (Interferon regulatory factor 5) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.

Common research applications

  • Western blotting: compare relative IRF5 (Interferon regulatory factor 5) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
  • IHC/IHC-F: assess spatial distribution of IRF5 (Interferon regulatory factor 5) across tissue regions and cell types using matched controls.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins
  • Family / similarity context: Contains 1 HMG box DNA-binding domain.
  • Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
  • Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.
