Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets kinesin heavy chain isoform 5A (gene KIF5A) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 117.4 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 130 kDa.
KIF5A is a neuron-specific heavy chain of kinesin-1, the conventional microtubule plus-end motor. It transports neurofilament proteins and membrane cargoes along axons and supports axon elongation. Mutations in KIF5A are linked to hereditary spastic paraplegia, Charcot–Marie–Tooth disease type 2 and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human K562 cells, rat brain tissue, mouse brain tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 8% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.125 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): K562 cells.

Recombinant human KIF5A fragment (Glu374–Ser1032), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places kinesin heavy chain isoform 5A in the cytoplasm and perikaryon. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Distributed throughout the CNS but is highly enriched in subsets of neurons. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
