Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-Klrd1/CD94 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A03257-3.
Biological background
Biological context: Adhesive glycoprotein that mediates cell-to-cell and cell-to-matrix interactions. Ligand for CD36 mediating antiangiogenic properties.
Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Synapse. Postsynaptic density. Dendritic spine. Dendrite., tissue context: High expression in invertebral disk tissue..
Common research applications
- Western blotting (WB): Compare Klrd1 levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of Klrd1 in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
- Flow cytometry: Quantify Klrd1-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
- ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
- Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.
Additional product notes (from provided fields)
- Background: CD94 (Cluster of Differentiation 94), also known as killer cell lectin-like receptor subfamily D, member 1 (KLRD1) is a human gene. Natural killer (NK) cells are a distinct lineage of lymphocytes that mediate cytotoxic activity and secrete cytokines upon immune stimulation. Several genes of the C-type lectin superfamily, including members of the NKG2 family, are expressed by NK cells and may be involved in the regulation of NK cell function. KLRD1 (CD94) is an antigen preferentially expressed on NK cells and is classified as a type II membrane protein because it has an external C terminus. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
- Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
- Cellular localization: Synapse. Postsynaptic density. Dendritic spine. Dendrite.
- Tissue details: High expression in invertebral disk tissue.
