Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes laminin subunit alpha-2 (gene LAMA2) in rat, mouse and human samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 343.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 344 kDa.
Laminin alpha-2 (LAMA2, merosin) is the alpha chain of laminin-211 and laminin-221, the main laminins of the muscle and peripheral nerve basement membranes. It anchors muscle fibers to the extracellular matrix through dystroglycan and integrins, and LAMA2 mutations cause a form of congenital muscular dystrophy.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Human, Mouse, Rat) |
|---|
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): HeLa cells, A549 cells, PANC cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide from the N-terminal region of human laminin 2 alpha. The peptide sequence is conserved in mouse. It differs from the rat sequence at one residue.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with rat, mouse and human. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Placenta, striated muscle, peripheral nerve, cardiac muscle, pancreas, lung, spleen, kidney, adrenal gland, skin, testis, meninges, choroid plexus, and some other regions of the brain. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
