Product Overview
Clone 25L42 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes phosphatidylcholine-sterol acyltransferase (gene LCAT) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and immunoprecipitation. The predicted molecular weight is 49.6 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 50 kDa.
Lecithin–cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) is a plasma enzyme secreted mainly by the liver. On the surface of HDL and LDL particles it transfers a fatty acid from phosphatidylcholine to free cholesterol, forming cholesteryl esters that drive HDL maturation and reverse cholesterol transport. LCAT deficiency causes marked lipoprotein abnormalities, and the enzyme is studied in lipid metabolism and cardiovascular research.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat liver tissue, mouse liver tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 8% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1:1000 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): GES-1 cells.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human LCAT.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt describes phosphatidylcholine-sterol acyltransferase as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Detected in blood plasma. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
