Product Overview
Clone 21L18 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes L-lactate dehydrogenase A chain (gene LDHA) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 36.7 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 37 kDa.
Lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA, LDH-M) is the muscle-type subunit of lactate dehydrogenase, a tetrameric enzyme that interconverts pyruvate and lactate while cycling NADH and NAD+. LDHA favors lactate production, supporting glycolysis when oxygen is limited and in rapidly dividing cells, so it is widely studied in cancer metabolism, the Warburg effect and hypoxia.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HUH-7- WT cells, human HUH-7-LDHA KO cells, human HepG2 cells, human Jurkat cells, human HeLa cells, human PC-3 cells, rat heart, rat skin.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 10% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1:500 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:500, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human LDHA.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places L-lactate dehydrogenase A chain in the cytoplasm. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Predominantly expressed in anaerobic tissues such as skeletal muscle and liver. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
