Product Overview

This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets liver carboxylesterase 1 (gene CES1) in human samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 62.5 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 62 kDa.

Carboxylesterase 1 (CES1) is a serine hydrolase abundant in the liver that breaks ester bonds in drugs, environmental chemicals and lipids. It activates many ester prodrugs and inactivates others, and it also processes cholesteryl esters and triglycerides, so it is a key enzyme in drug metabolism and lipid research.

Target Liver carboxylesterase 1 (gene CES1; UniProt P23141, human)
Host / Clonality / Isotype Rabbit / Polyclonal / Rabbit IgG

Validated Applications

Western blot 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Human)

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HepG2 cells.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.

Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide from the C-terminal region of human liver Carboxylesterase 1/CES1.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places liver carboxylesterase 1 in the endoplasmic reticulum lumen and cytoplasm. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed predominantly in liver with lower levels in heart and lung. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Handle with standard laboratory precautions.
