Product Overview

This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor 1 (gene OLR1) in human samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 31.0 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 38 kDa.

LOX-1 (OLR1) is a C-type lectin scavenger receptor on endothelial cells, macrophages and smooth muscle cells that binds and internalizes oxidized LDL. Its activation triggers reactive oxygen species production, NF-κB signaling and endothelial dysfunction, so LOX-1 and its soluble form are widely studied in atherosclerosis and vascular inflammation.

Validated Applications

Western blot 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Human)

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human placenta tissue.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.

Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide from the middle region of human LOX-1/OLR1. It differs from the rat sequence at thirteen residues.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt describes oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor 1 as secreted and also located in the cell membrane and membrane raft. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed at high level in endothelial cells and vascular-rich organs such as placenta, lung, liver and brain, aortic intima, bone marrow, spinal cord and substantia nigra. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide as a preservative. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
A.Validated applications with suggested starting dilutions: Western blot 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Human). Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory.
Q.Which species does this antibody react with?
A.Validated reactivity: Human. Other species are not listed by the supplier.
Q.What band size should be expected in Western blot?
A.Reported by the supplier: calculated molecular weight 31.0 kDa; observed band at about 38 kDa. A difference from the calculated size is common and can reflect post-translational modification, processing or isoform differences.
Q.What immunogen was used to raise this antibody?
A.Synthetic peptide from the middle region of human LOX-1/OLR1. It differs from the rat sequence at thirteen residues.
Q.How should this antibody be stored?
A.As supplied: −20 °C for up to 12 months from receipt. After reconstitution: 4 °C for up to 1 month, or aliquot and keep at −20 °C for up to 6 months. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
