Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes lactoperoxidase (gene LPO) in human samples and is validated for Western blot and ICC/IF. The predicted molecular weight is 80.3 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 80 kDa.
Lactoperoxidase (LPO) is a heme peroxidase secreted into milk, saliva, tears and airway fluids. Using hydrogen peroxide, it oxidizes thiocyanate to hypothiocyanite and iodide to hypoiodite, both of which are antimicrobial. This lactoperoxidase system is a component of innate defense at mucosal surfaces.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human Caco-2 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): Caco-2 cells.

The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt describes lactoperoxidase as secreted and also located in the cytoplasm. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Mammary gland, milk and salivary gland. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
